Muncie Show and Sale

by

Martin Van Zant

The Muncie show and sale was held on Sunday January 11. There was a full house in attendance and the crowd seemed steady all day. I was planning on getting a table and then everything fell through. However I did end up going and had a wonderful time.

I saw several club members including Legends Richard Stringfellow and Bill Knepp who rode up together. Dennis Walls had a table and said sales were rather good this year. John Cleland had a table just plum full of bottles. Duke Sipes another member was set up right next to John. Seems both had smiles on their face, so sales may have been good for them as well.

I talked with several people who drove up or down from the north side of the state Dave Rittenhouse seemed to be busy the whole time. I guess running a show takes a lot of doing this and that. Greg Spurgeon had a table full of exotic jars as usual. I am sure I have missed a few people, however it was a nice show. I bought a few things and still sold a few things under the table. I heard of a lot business going on the preceding days of the show. I think they actually start on Thursday and continue on thru Sunday.

I brought along a new member with me, Nate Bell. He was at the Terre Haute show and Auction. We meet up at the 1-69 Exit Ramp. Then rode together from that point on. He is from Columbus and is relatively new to collecting bottles. Welcome. He bought a few blob beers and a hutch from Fort Wayne. He said he had a good time.

During the ride home we stopped at several Antique shops just for fun. We didn’t find much of anything at the shops. If you didn’t make the Muncie show this year, well your gonna have to wait till next year. They will not hold a summer show.

A couple of the items I bought were Lightning rod balls, a diddie Blitzen, doesn’t that sound cool, and a round 3 1/2 red ball. A couple of balls that I didnt have, always makes nice additions.
